Ole-Martin Dahle — The Eagle Man of Flatanger

Ole-Martin “Eagle Man” Dahle is a legendary figure in European wildlife photography circles. Based in the rugged coastal landscapes of Flatanger, Norway, he has become globally renowned for providing photographers and filmmakers with intimate, high-octane encounters with the white-tailed eagle — one of Scandinavia’s most iconic raptors.

Since 2006, Ole-Martin has worked full-time as a guide and photographic facilitator. For him, it has been a dream realized: combining a lifelong love of nature with his natural social presence to create unforgettable moments in the wild for others. He is not only a master of eagle behavior, but also an expert at reading light, landscape, and conditions to deliver consistently exceptional photographic opportunities — from fast-action boat sessions to forest hide work featuring owls, goshawks, and other charismatic species.

A cornerstone of Ole-Martin’s story is his long friendship and collaboration with renowned wildlife photographer Brutus Östling. Brutus was the very first photographer to use Ole-Martin’s original eagle hides, back when the idea of a dedicated wildlife photo tourism experience in Flatanger was still taking shape. For as long as anyone can remember, the two have been running photo tours together — guiding hundreds of guests into raw, emotional encounters with nature. Their partnership blends world-class photographic artistry with Ole-Martin’s unparalleled local knowledge, forming the backbone of the eagle tours offered by Focus RAW.

Today, Ole-Martin continues to inspire photographers from all over the world. Whether you’re joining a eagle expedition or spending long northern summer nights under dramatic skies, photographing seabirds and raptors in motion — a tour with the Eagle Man is more than just a photography trip. It’s a masterclass in immersion, patience, and connection with the natural world.
