
Brutus Östling

Brutus Östling, born in 1958 in Stockholm, worked for three decades as a book publisher before breaking through as a bird photographer with his debut book Mellan vingspetsarna (Between the Wingtips) (2005).
Since then, he has published twelve photo books, several of them bestsellers and translated into English for publication in the USA and Great Britain.
Four of his books have been selected as Book of the Year by the World Wildlife Fund WWF. In 2009, he was awarded the prestigious August Prize in the non-fiction category for Att överleva dagen (Surviving the Day), in collaboration with text author Susanne Åkesson. From 2011 onwards, Brutus writes the texts for his books himself.
Both Bevingat (Winged) (2015) and Under Afrikas himlar (Under African Skies) (2018) were selected by WWF as Book of the Year. His latest work is the mammoth book Konsten att fotografera fåglar och andra djur. Version 2.0 (The Art of Photographing Birds and Other Animals. Version 2.0) from autumn 2020.
