Autumn's Grand Landscapes When autumn comes to the Norwegian mountains, something happens to the landscape. The mountain birches shift from green to gold. The ground burns in red, orange and rust brown. Lichens, mosses, stone, water and mountains form a landscape that feels both magnificent and serene at the same time. Above everything rises Rondane's dark mountain massif, sometimes with the first streaks of snow on the peaks as a foreboding of winter. FocusRAW is planning an exclusive landscape photography trip to Rondane and Dovrefjell during autumn 2027. This will be a trip for you who want to truly work with the landscape. Not just visit beautiful places, but pause, read the light, build compositions and wait for those moments when color, mist, clouds and mountains suddenly fall into place. We will focus on some of the most photogenic areas in and around Rondane: open valleys, mountain birch forests, babbling brooks, rapids, waterfalls, still tarns and views towards some of Norway's most characteristic mountains. Dørålsdalen and Grimsdalen are two of the environments we're looking at as natural main areas, but the trip will also give us proximity to Dovrefjell's more alpine landscape and the views around Snøhetta. It's a place built for landscape photographers. Here you'll find the grand vistas: mountains rising above vast valleys, dramatic cloud formations, reflections in still water and autumn colors that can explode in morning and evening light. But here you'll also find the quiet images: details in lichen and stone, solitary mountain birches, water flowing over dark rock, mist settling in valleys and minimalist crops where color and form carry the entire image. We plan the trip around the light. This means early mornings, late evenings and flexibility according to weather. When the sky opens up, we work with the grand landscapes. When clouds hang heavy, we move closer and search for more intimate subjects. Rain, mist, frost, side light, backlight and dramatic weather changes aren't disturbances – they're often what makes the images. This won't be a stressed tour. It will be a focused photography trip in a small group, with time for both fieldwork, image discussions and photographic thinking. The goal isn't to see as much as possible. The goal is to come home with stronger images. Rondane in autumn is color, mountains and silence. Dovrefjell is space, stone and weather. Together they create one of the Nordic region's most powerful environments for landscape photography. We're now opening registration of interest for Rondane & Dovrefjell 2027.
